Barges were placed in Nett Lake in June, 2003, after construction of a suitable landing area. Barges were in daily operation for two (2) months. Barges were removed from Nett Lake prior to rice harvesting in September. Perennial vegetation covering a total of 15 surface area acres were harvested during this time. Plant material was deposited near shore in cutting areas to decompose. Areas cut first showed rapid and heavy re-growth by wild rice.
